Prosum's Very First STEAM Summit Was a Success

We partnered with Microsoft and other great organizations to provide a day of learning and fun to more than 100 Los Angeles Unified School District STEAM students. The students loaded onto buses and traveled to the Microsoft Technology Center in sunny Silicon Beach for the event.

The event kicked off with keynote speaker and Prosum Co-CEO, Ravi Chatwani. Ravi spoke to the students about human potential and self-leadership.

The students then had the opportunity to participate in two of four workshops:

·       Acing the Interview panel – Our very own technical recruiters were on hand to talk to the students about job interview dos and don’ts, answer questions, and provide other tips to arm them with the skills to face any potential employer.

·       Coding workshop – Microsoft employees lent their expertise to teach the kids how to code, then allowed them to form groups so they could create mobile apps together. They then got a chance to present their apps to their classmates.

·       Self-branding workshop – A representative from LinkedIn came by to show the students how to build their personal social media brand to stand out from the crowd. As well as providing a guide on networking with mentors online.

·       Experience Virtual Reality (VR) – The students got a chance to experience some next-level VR courtesy of Microsoft. They strapped on the headsets and were instantly transported to other worlds.

Although this is the first Prosum STEAM Summit, it’s the fourth year in a row that Prosum has worked with students in our community to inspire interest in tech careers. We look forward to continuing to help inspire the next generation of technology leaders.

Thanks to Microsoft and LinkedIn for helping make this STEAM summit a great success. Thanks also to scphotomedia for taking professional headshots for the students, and WellMade Lunches for feeding everyone at the event.
